Last night the San Dimas City Council unanimously declared its intention to have a Gold Line station in our city.  The designated site is between San Dimas Avenue and Walnut Avenue with parking south of the tracks.  No decision will be made on actual design of the station, parking, or access until some time in the future.  The designation simply puts San Dimas on the map so that planning of the entire line can proceed with San Dimas on board!
 
As you know, the station itself consists of platforms that would be entirely within the railroad right-of-way.  The parking would probably be in the range of 400 spaces, most likely in a two-level structure.
 
Perhaps the most exciting news is that phase 2A, which was going to end in Azusa, may now be extended as far as San Dimas!  This may be possible with the extra sales tax money resulting from the passage of measure R in the recent election.  If San Dimas is included in this phase - and it's still a big "if" - we could have Gold Line service by 2014!
